Popular designer Cayvee Black’s has confessed that before any of her designs make it on to clothes, they first decorate her wall. The designs for silk dresses and drapey skirts for fancy night party dresses are first painted by this talented designer and then posted on her wall. Her whole wall is covered by fabric patches, old photos and family pictures. The talented designer has been a vivid painter since childhood with zeal to paint with different colors. The colors and patterns each season are mimicked on to her designs and are made available to the public. She loves luxurious fabrics and the feel of it dictates the kind of design to be printed on top of it. Black has been a purist all along and hates synthetics.
Black first worked for Club Monaco from 2003 after graduating where she interned for Anna Sui. Then for Tibi and that followed by a fashion line of her own last year that has tell tale signs of the 60’s era of clothing especially from French and ballet designs.

The recently turned 15 year old Rosemount Australian Fashion week celebrated going 15 by organizing a fashion show with the backdrop as the Sydney Opera House.
This show has become the premier event to show case designs by budding and famous designers of the Australian and the Asia-pacific region. It was a 5 day event where the spring/summer 2011 designs were showcased. More than 150 designers took part in the event which is much more than the 30 that took part in 1996.
It also included the Swim Fashion Week alongside the Australian Fashion Week. Many international stores and Boutiques participated here to get the designs to their stores world over. Some of the most prominent of these were American Rag Cie, Anna & Boy, Derelicte, Fred Segal Fun, Planet Togs, and many more. These store and boutiques were eager to get many of the sprouting international innovative designers to tag along with them and design clothes for them. Many of the designers that these stores and boutiques tagged along with them in the past have given them good sales and they are hoping to repeat the same this time around.
The winner this year’s competition was the Si.me.ri.an of the new generation designs.

There was a time when jeans were considered the clothing of poor farmers and workers. The popularization of jeans saw the cost of these humble pants to increase to $200 for sandblasted pants from denim. There are jeans with diamonds, crystals and gold encrusted along with other crazy things.
Now it is the time for the revolution of Khakis I the same way that jeans became the symbol of today’s youth. They have become the replacement for jeans for the fashionable men and made then to turn to khakis after trying everything they can in jeans. The scene of Khakis is getting quite complicated nowadays with new designs and prints being made every day and even fashion shows dedicated to Khakis. There was a time when khakis were part of American military uniforms to now when they are gradually becoming a fashion statement. Even high end khakis from Dockers are being released to meet the growing market.
But there is a high risk of fashion flop with khakis, with the wearer looking spiffy or bland. Hence it is important that Khakis combines with stylish tops and worn properly to give the correct statement.

After Angelina Jolie’s stint at wearing a Max Azira Gown backwards during the SAG awards in 2009, this year it was Amanda Seyfried who took to the premier of a film in a backward worn cocktail dress. And now wearing backwards is the high profile line from Kate moss whose sprint/summer collection in which Kate moss wore the Romper backwards so that the black buttons look contrasting to the plain top.
It’s surprising that how these models wear these clothes backwards since there is no room for boobs made in the back of dresses, which are specifically sewn for the breasts and bra to accommodate. Hence a fair bit of tailoring is required for proper alteration to already sewn dresses so that they can fit perfectly and not fall off or show a boob on the back of the models and actresses. It’s easier for the tailors to design and tailor a completely new dress in the time taken to alter an already designed dress with buttons in the front.

Although John Gallianio’s love for bras, negligees and paties is well known, it was surprising to see that it was missing in the collection showcased in Shangai. The event was arranged in Shangai on Saturday to coincide with the city’s new flagship Dior Boutique. It showcased some of Gallianos’ famed collection that he has delivered in sometime. The people who came to see the famed designer’s collection of bras and panties were left disappointed as the designer showcased just one pair of panties-shorts on the runway. It was mostly pink and purple dresses designed keeping in mind a good girl Barbie and keeping the Shangai dressing style in mind. Recently when Karl Lagerfeld showcased in Shanghai, his collection was locally inspired and targeted the locals with modest and traditionally inspired designs that received a huge appreciation. Thou Galliano’s intent was solely on keeping things French inspired. Galliano expressed his need to understand the emerging market such as China and become a big player in the fashion world where the zeal to understand the craftsmanship, couture and savoir faire Francais is huge.

On a day when the market was down 200 points the traders of Wall Street recently had some distraction to take their minds of constantly fluctuating and straining markets. It’s no doubt that most of the traders and the general public has opposite contradiction towards the concept of dating Models. Hence it was no surprise that most of the Traders and stock brokers took the time off to attend the open street fashion show instead of focusing on foreign markets.
The fashion show was a celebration of fashion going public by the Express. It was held in the middle of the usually very busy Wall Street. It was fashion infused event with the Express’s fall collections for men and women specifically designed for office wear. More exciting events will be followed hereafter with the Shooting of Mario Sorrenti’s Express Denim campaign and the launch of the new fragrance by Jessica Stam.
A 75 foot Express billboard was monted on top of the iconic Wall Street Bull on the NYSE façade which featured Michael Camiloto with dual company. This was the first time in ten years that this area has been used for a fashion show, the last being by Isaac Mizrahi.

Christina Aguilera is known for her style and her latest single may be known as ‘Not Myself Tonight’. But there have been instances where her style quotient has been questioned. It now seems that she has been imitating Lady Gaga profusely in her style statements and designs. Christina has been now seen in her latest promo in a pencil skirt and black PVC bra that seems to be a straight lift from what Lady Gaga wore in London, the last time around in August. This is not all. Aguilera has also been seen to sport streaks in her hair that are pink in color as well as outlandish yellow eye shadow and bright red lips, reminiscent of what Lady Gaga is well known for.
Lady Gaga has been around for much less time as compared to Christina on the celebrity circuit. But it seems strange that Christina is aping her, instead of the other way around. It also seems that Christina has reacted about being asked about this, saying that she does not even know if Gaga is a man or a woman. This smacks of something that is certainly not fashion and indicates that there is more to this than meets the eye. Some people are of the opinion that Christina is quite insecure about the attention that Gaga gets and the success she has enjoyed, given the fact that she has been around on the scene much earlier than Lady Gaga.

Joss Stone is someone who is well known for eschewing shoes. So it seems a bit ironical that Joss Stone is now expected to design shoes as she has signed up a deal with Nine West. The barefoot designer is expected to turn out a mean range of shoes which is why she has been signed up for the deal in the first place. Joss Stone is all of 23 years of age and she is supposed to collaborate with the creative director of Nine West and this is a function of her profile as well as personality. This is also maybe a function of the floral tattoos that she is seen to sport so flamboyantly. This may do some good to the quest for making the shoe design quite a lovely prospect.
The fact that Joss Stone is someone who does not wear shoes as such is at odds with her being commissioned to design shoes, but then in the fashion world this can be a great talking point, in addition to the fact that she is a well celebrated singer in her own right. All of this is being done for a charity which is known as Soles4Souls which means that all the publicity may actually be quite good.
