Weekend Getaway at Seattle

Getting away from it all is quite a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of city life. One of the best places to get away to is Seattle. The city has a lot to offer for your weekend getaway and you will never have a dull moment here. There are quite a few art galleries in the city, where you can get free entry. It pays to be an art lover at Seattle. The Frye Art Museum offers free entry and you can enjoy art works from masters like Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth to Tim Rollins. You can also check out the Foster/White’s gallery which is all of 7,000 square foot, giving you enough space to discover your artsy side.

If skiing is your passion, you need not spend a fortune. Rather, you can ski after dark at the Summit at Snoqualmie, which has as many as 54 night trails. The evening lift passed also cost $20 less that passes available in the daytime. You can also participate in the carpooling program to save money on travel.  Getting away for your weekend getaway to Seattle means that you do not have to spend the moon. All you need is some imagination and creativity to watch the dollars as you have the time of your life!

To be Fit or Fat?

If you spend hours looking at the mirror and wishing away that fat, don’t give up hope yet and start eating more ice-cream in despair. There’s a unique remedy called Xenical that will make that extra fat go away like morning dew before the rush of the sun (to be poetic). This product is a unique remedy tailor made for the obese celeb. I know, I know, all those parties, girls, you just can’t help it, right? But look around, and you will see why I want to recommend a fat losing drug.

The world is being taken over by size zeroes, but it is going to take couple of thousands of them to overthrow some of us who are on the other side of the size zero spectrum. Nature is just so unfair! I know my friends who keep dumping packs and packs of fries and drown themselves in cans of soda. And I only have to stand next to them, I don’t even have to touch them, and I am already adding some pounds here!! Sounds familiar? Story of thousands of plus size women! Yeah, that was my story too before I started using Xenical.

I, for one, feel better in saying ‘plus size’ rather than ‘obese’. I mean, obese is really derogating, plus size, on the other hand, even sounds fashionable if you try really hard to concentrate. Look at all those “more to love” celebs out there: Queen Latifah (actor, singer), Jill Scott (three time Grammy winner), Natalie Laughlin (first plus sized model to appear on a bill board in NY Times Square), Kelly Shaye Smith (better known as Pierce Brosnan’s wife), Nigella Lawson (foodie and chef), to name just a few. They are all plus sized and yet so gorgeous and confident.

Most of the celebs I see on TV are walking the thick line between size zero and size plus. Look at Alec Baldwin, once a hot actor, now a fat actor. Or Mike Tyson…he is now better off being addressed as Stout Tyson. And don’t even start me on Val Kilmer. Oh, that gorgeous, gorgeous man! What has he done to that six-pack? But what really hurts most to see is how the Governor of California, the muscle man, Mr. Universe, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is changed to this sloppy fat figure now. Gone are the days of pumping muscles, it is his waistline that’s going out of line now. If I felt safe around that man, I would go and recommend a rigorous regimen of this product for him.

Remember, if your body mass index or BMI (it’s a complex measure, ask your doctor) is over 30, then you are obese. If it lingers between 25 and 30, you can count your lucky stars and be happy that you are only overweight. Not that there is much difference. While plus size fashion may stick around and celebrity obesity can be on the rise, I personally feel that something ought to be done. Young girls look up to these celebs as role models, and you cannot simply have them showing off their bulges, even if they call that gorgeous.

If you are overweight, you need not remain so forever. Use this product, and you will see the miracle working right soon. Feel depressed about your weight? There are some famous people who inspired me with their weight loss factor. Check out Maradona, the yesteryear superstar of soccer. From a drug addict, obese and ugly looking, he is transformed into this charming and fit ballet dancer and a TV host. I don’t know if he had surgery, or tried Xenical, but the point is there are ways to bring down your fat. One of them is this product. Frankly it is just not healthy to be obese. It’s not healthy for your heart or any other organs; it taxes your life and those around you. So while we may adore those big sized women out there, there is a lesson to be learnt! Start losing those extra pounds with Xenical. Celebs may get away with overweight, but not you!

Fighting and Facebook for fun

Grace Coddington, Andre Leon Talley and R J Cutler of Vogue got together at Union Square recently. They were discussing the release of the DVD of the September Issue, which is the biggest issue of the magazine. The discussion came down to how Grace and RJ were down to a spot of fighting at the Chanel Haute Couture Show in Paris. So Andre had decided to keep well away from Grace, even though they eventually became great friends and partners too. So it seems as if fighting is good for starting off friendships, as it means that at least you have something to discuss, even if you argue about it.

The discussion veered to Facebook and Twitter and the influence it is having on culture as well as fashion. It is quite strange that when designers spend hours, days, months and even years on their creation, you have people on Facebook and Twitter tearing into it in seconds. This is quite unfair and does not do any justice to the hard work put in by these designers. So this leads to the fight between the old school and the new school of thinking. As far as these three are concerned, they definitely consider themselves to be part of the old school.

Busty Models at the Prada Show

It’s a welcome to see bust models, after getting used to seeing bags of bone walking on stage. There was a time when you thought that all that models ate, was an orange for lunch, and an apple for dinner. Thin was in, and you wondered whatever happened to busty models. Well, the Prada show seems to have set the record straight, as you saw the return of busty models. Just a couple of seasons ago, the same Prada was sending in models with pantsless looks, wearing all sorts of daiper panty kind of stuff. That was okay for the thin models. But this season, Prada has sent in models with more stuff around the breats. Busty models with more natural curves, quite like the ones that we see on the streets.

Now Prada has bucked the trend and sent in busty models who do have the curves, and enough boobs to get your tongue lolling. The models also had boob tents sewn over them, to enhance the effect. And the effect sure was electrifying, at least for boob lovers. Looking at anorexic models can be quite nauseating after a while, and with busty models coming in, you feel as if happy days are back again.

Website launch of Italian Vogue

The website launch of Italian Vogue means that you can get fashion highlights and latest snippets from Italy. And you will be happy to note that the website launch also signifies that posts will be available in English. There is no need to be just happy seeing the pictures and the videos, as you can now actually read up online on the site. There are many exciting and scintillating sections inside the site, like Vogue Curvy, Vogue Talents and Vogue Black. There are also sections like the one where Tyra speaks about her show and how friendly she had got with Hillary Clinton, to the point where she even asked her very personal questions.

Vogue Curvy is devoted to women who are decidedly not skinny, and who are quite curvy, as the section plainly indicates. It talks about women who do not go with the anorexic look, but who are devoted to looking alluring in their natural curves, the way they naturally are. With Vogue Talents, you get a lowdown on upcoming talents and fashion wannabes. While it is debatable as if some of the talents are really up and coming, it makes sense to watch these. With Italian Vogue, there are quite a lot of things that you can watch out for.

Motorcycle rides and Conde Nast

It seems as if motorcycle rides are quite in fashion. Take for example the fact that there are so many fashion editors who are taking motorcycle rides to work and the only reason they are currently preferring cars, is the winter. If you take motorcycle ides during the winter, it is quite likely that you may end up with frost bite in your toes. Well, look at Lucy Danziger, who is the editor-in-chief of Self. She is a self professed motorcycle rides lover, and does not care much about the fact that she has to wear a helmet when taking a motorcycle ride. After all, she says that helmets do keep your hair in place, and frankly, you should not worry too much about having to wear geeky trousers that will help to keep grease from your pants.

The fact that motorcycle rides are getting so popular is quite evident from the fact that Conde Nast sees many motorbikes parked outside. Sometimes, you have a problem in getting parking space, which means that you have to jostle for space and maybe try and come in early. Well, motorcycle rides lovers can be quite democratic and irrespective of hierarchy, it is a ‘first come first served’ as far as parking is concerned.

Black Veil as fashion statement?

If you want, you can convert even a black veil into a fashion statement. It only takes a little bit of imagination as well as a lot of panache and pizzazz to do this. But it seems as if Daphne Guinness, has enough of these characteristics to be able to not only conceal herself, but also look alluring along with it. She says that she has been wearing veils for around 4 weeks now. It is quite a lot less pretentious as well and even if you do not wear any makeup it is all fine. After all, that’s the idea behind having on a veil. You can do with much less embellishments as well as accoutrements, which is so convenient and does not take any time at all. Wearing sunglasses is also an option though it does look a little pretentious at times. Sunglasses make you feel as if you are hiding something, and in the case of veils, even if you were to hide something, it would not look so obvious.

You may be not a little surprised, but it is a fact that black veils are making an appearance as a fashion statement, which means that you can just slip one on, and make sure that you are quite in vogue and in touch with the times.

Joseph Altuzarra and high fashion in New York

When it comes to high fashion, it is quite true that what seems to be strange is that you could have avant garde designers making their way to the Big Apple and making it big, on the back of their talent. It seems this is the case with the brand new designer in town, Joseph Altuzarra, who is being worn by people like Carine Roitfeld. Roitfeld had worn Altuzarra’s ivory coat, which had mink tails coming out at the shoulders, which caught everyone’s fancy and had them quite amazingly enchanted with the coat as well as its designer. It is quite true that you knew that Altuzarra has indeed made an entry in the NYC fashion circles, with quite a splash.

If you know what we mean, just try to get even a single piece of his fall 2010 collection shoes, which have just sprung out of the shelves at Barney’s. Joseph was so sought after, that it seems as if all that folks wanted to wear was leather, that season. It is quite true that Joseph has become a cult like figure in the world of high fashion in New York, and getting to the dizzying heights as he has done in such a short span of time is nothing short of a miracle.

Bankers at Fashion Week?

When you get bankers at Fashion Week, what can you expect? After all, fashion and bankers don’t seem to get along too well, do they? But it seemed as if the farewell party at Bryant Park’s eighteen years of fashion week had a large number of bankers teeming all over the place. The promise of free wine and a chance to ogle at some of the models expected to be there had lured in the guys. But they were to be disappointed, given the fact that the skinny and sexy models were nowhere in sight. And when you had rotund ladies making their way to the restroom elbowing everyone out, you can bet that the situation was not very conducive to civility and conviviality.

To top it all, the fashion week farewell party seemed to have an acute shortage of bathrooms, ensuring huge queues of guys just waiting in line to get their turn. So it was actually a long line of disgruntled and disgusted guys around. It almost seemed that the only thing that kept them in the place was the wine, and deference to the fact that if they had come in there, it made sense to have some fun, at least.
