Of New York Fashion Week and Menswear fashion
There was a time when fashion meant only women’s fashion. But the times are certainly changing and it seems that the trend in the US is that the Menswear fashion market is just exploding continuously over the past five years or so. Now there is a movement among designers, patrons as well as industry insiders who wonder as to whether Menswear fashion should be a staple and a regular fixture in the New York Fashion Week. This is only fair considering the kind of interest that has been generated in menswear over the past few years. There seems to be some overlap between the European and the American shows which means that while the Europeans shows gets precedence , the American ones do lose out as the New York Fashion Week does not have a dedicated Menswear fashion.
This is really a shame because en are now coming to their own and have discerning tastes and preferences when it comes to fashion, gone are the days when Menswear fashion used to be just an insignificant foot note in fashion weeks and as just as a kind of filler or so . This is not true and the Europeans have stolen a match by having special shows for ‘homme’ or men who are quite fashion conscious nowadays.
