Female Celebrities Are Prone To Drug Addiction
What is it with celebrities and drugs? More precisely, what is it with female celebrities and drugs? The moment female celebrities taste money and success, they want a different high, as if all the money and success weren’t a high for them already! Is it the pressure, or the workload? Or is it the complicated fast life they lead and the resultant stress factors that force them to opt for stress busters like drugs, which are often risky and sometimes fatal? Whatever the reasons are; these chicks seem to take to drugs like bees to a hive, and the money and success do help them get what they want. Money, success, fame, alcohol, and drugs – a combination as deadly as cyanide – drive these bright stars to rehab clinics, psychiatric treatments, bankruptcy, prison, or sometimes, even death. Although, drugs attract the weak willed among the stars into addiction; most stars, male or female, have a fling or two with some forms of drug or alcohol abuse in their lifetimes. While a majority have been lucky enough to get away from addiction, prison, or death, a few of them have not been so lucky.

In most cases, peer pressure plays a big part in making these female stars try drugs as a one-off fancy that trap them in deadly addictions soon. The parties, late nights, travel, and irregular work timings drive them to seek relief through drugs, which offer them a chance to forget their worries and stress temporarily. Drugs offer these stars a holiday somewhere in one corner of the brain where no one and nothing can access or intrude! Most times, these temporary escapades lead them to mind depraving addictions, which in turn lead these stars to a point from where they start losing their wealth, looks, health, stardom, and their very lives.

Many female celebrities of today and the yesteryears have become preys to drug abuse and have had issues with their mental and physical health as well as the law. The case of Drew Barrymore is a classic example. This star’s run-in with drug related problems and the consequent legal tangles started very early. In and out of abuse and rehab programs constantly, this actor would have attended rehabs more times than the number of films she acted. A celebrity at a very young age, Drew started her career and her drug use very early. Starting with marijuana at the age of 10 and switching to cocaine at 12, Drew, luckily for her, came out her drug problem after she became an adult. Many modern female celebrities not only display their drug habits in public, they act as if they are proud of what they are doing. Flaunting their drug use in full public view or in front of the cameras, these stars have been caught on tape using drugs rather nonchalantly. Paris Hilton and Amy Winehouse have been caught on tape snorting coke, and the latter was also arrested once for possession.

Kate Moss, the famous British and international model was photographed once snorting cocaine, and her career nosedived soon after, as most modeling contracts with her were withdrawn immediately. Luckily, she escaped a jail term as British laws do not accept photographic evidence in their courts. Drugs made Courtney Love break into her boyfriend’s home, and she was promptly arrested for breaking in. The charges against her were for breaking in into somebody else’s property under the influence of a controlled substance. Courtney was also seriously hospitalized for Oxycontin overdose just after her arrest for breaking in. Like Drew, Courtney started her drug abuse very early. Her father reportedly gave her LSD when she was barely four. Courtney has been arrested for possession of Heroin many times, and she keeps going in and out of drug rehab with constant regularity.

Whitney Houston, at the peak of her drug problems related to Marijuana, Crack and Cocaine, used to bite and punch herself claiming the devil was out to attack her. She was even caught once by airport security when she tried to carry Marijuana in her luggage in 2000. The most shocking female celebrity death related to drug/substance abuse and the one that is still in the memories of many is that of Marilyn Monroe. This beautiful actress, who had the entertainment world at her feet, laid down her life due to Nembutal and Chloral Hydrate overdose. There are many others who have died due to overdose or chronic abuse like Anna Nicole-Smith and Dorothy Dandridge to name a few, but the fact remains that many female celebrities still continue their dangerous habits and are slowly on their path to keep their tryst with death. Help is available for these otherwise gifted and lucky few, by way of drug rehabs and prescription drugs, if they wish to look for it, and if they want to give up their drug afflictions. However, the bottom-line is that they should want to give the habits up on their own and not by compulsion, because if the desire to stop doesn’t come from within, they will get back to their drug habits pretty soon.
