Feeding the egos of models: Donatella Versace’s perspective
The new issue of Love has Donatella Versace grieving over the state of the modeling world as it exists as of now. Gone are the days when icons like Amber Valleta, Kristen McMenamy and Kate Moss would feature together on the Versace runway, adding all that star power and glamour which any show of repute would demand. But it seems as those were just the good old days, gone forever. The models of today seem to be seriously lacking in attitude as well as panache. In the good old days, some designers would be scared that having too many super models would distract attention from the clothes. But this was not what Donatella felt as she was of the opinion that “Fame on fame means more fame!”
On the other hand, there seems to be something muted and all too neutral in models of today. They wear little make-up and also seem to be almost robotic, being constipated in their expressionless faces. It almost seems stupid and brainless to the core. Models who want to maintain a grave demeanor as well as serious expressions seem to want to convey some sort of intellectual base that seems all so out of place. Most models are rarely intellectual, if anything!
