CFDA Awards announced

The Council of Fashion Designers of America recently held an award show to honor the best of 2009. The CFDA is a non-profit trade association whose purpose is to lead industry initiatives and has more than 350 designers as its members. The CFDA award show is meant to recognize the top creative talents in the fashion industry and support the development of fashion through various scholarships and fashion funds.
The Oscars of the Fashion industry gave away many honors at the recently concluded event with The best Women’s wear designer award going to Marc Jacobs for his Marc’s fall 2010 collection that defines what is wearable and position-able. The best Men’s wear designer of the year award went to Rag & Bone. The accessories of the year award went to Alexis bittar. The famed Swarovski Women’s wear designer award went to Jason Wu and the same men’s wear award went to Richard Chai. The international desingner award was bagged by Christoper Bailey for his Fall 2010 collections. The 2010 fashion icon award was taken home by Iman. There were many other awards that were given to deserving designers one of which was the CFDA board-of-director’s Special Tribute-award that went to Alexander McQueen.
